What
to Consider When You Buy Running Shoes
I'm
a runner. I'm not a professional runner. I merely run as an amateur athlete. I
prefer trail running to running on a treadmill or on hard pavement. But, it doesn't
really matter whether you're an amateur or a professional athlete. It doesn't
matter what type of surface you prefer or where you prefer to run. All runners,
at some time or another, have to buy running shoes! Let
me begin by saying that buying the perfect pair of running shoes may take some
time! Ask my husband! He recently accompanied me on a shopping trip during which
I frantically searched for new running shoes! (I don't think he was enjoying the
excursion too much! He's not a patient shopper! But, he hung right in there with
me!) If
you take into consideration the many different brands of running shoes, as well
as the many different styles that each brand offers
there are LOTS of running
shoes out there to check out! And, as any runner should know, it is best to try
on any shoe of interest BEFORE purchasing it! In
the process of trying on several pairs of running shoes, I became very conscious
of how differently each pair felt on my feet. I noticed that, even among the same
brand (predominantly, New Balance), each style fit a little differently than the
others. While
one pair in a medium width seemed a little too wide, another style in a wide width
fit perfectly. A size 7 in New Balance styles worked well. However, Adidas styles
typically required a size 6.5. One style of running shoes offered lots of cushioning,
while another similar style had very little cushion. A nice pair of New Balance
"running shoes" seemed quite comfortable
UNTIL I tried on a pair
of New Balance "trail running shoes!" The trail shoes felt amazing on
my feet! I couldn't believe the difference between the two New Balance styles!
Needless
to say, I ended up buying the New Balance CW4720 Trail Shoes! They feel SOOOO
good! Just remember that, when you set out to buy a new pair of running shoes,
try them on, first!!! You won't regret taking the time to ensure that you get
the shoe that is right for you!
