avia running shoes reviewBeing a trail runner, I've probably tried just about all the major brands of trail running shoes that have been on the market. Some have been fairly inexpensive. Others have cost me a good chunk of one of my paychecks. The one thing that I've found is that you CAN find a decent running shoe that doesn't cost an arm and a leg-even if you have to wait for the shoes to go on sale! I got lots of wear and tear out of one moderately priced pair of running shoes...my Avia running shoes!

My first pair of Avia trail running shoes has long been retired. Ah, but I recall how comfortable they were out on my daily runs! They fit so well...like they were made specifically for my feet. I put way more miles on those babies than on any other pair of athletic shoes I've ever owned. I hated to give them up! But, I knew deep down inside that they had gone beyond the normal tour of duty. They had served me well. I don't recall what the name of the style was, but I do recall that I paid under $50 for that particular pair of Avia's.

Today, Avia makes newer, more improved models of running shoes. Their prices are comparable to other brands of running shoes. And, their quality is still good.

Below is a list of a few styles of Avia running shoes and their facts:

Women's Art Elite 223 Running Shoe:

  • Has a very lightweight bottom and a nice supportive mid-foot shank. Under the heel lies a resilient plate that absorbs shock when the heel hits the ground and gives energy to the stride at liftoff.
  • Cantilever Heel® "provides stability and energy return upon impact."
  • The upper is constructed from a lightweight synthetic and mesh.
  • The sock liner is molded Durapontex® and is removable.
  • The sole is made of a lightweight rubber.
  • Shoe is priced around $60.
  • This shoe is intended to be used for light running/training. It is great for training on cardio machines in a gym.

Avia 2404 ECS® Running Shoe:

  • Designed to protect against over-pronation (for those with a low or flat arch).
  • A lightweight motion control shoe-great for high-mileage running.
  • Comes in gender-specific, anatomically correct styles (Men's Atlas II and Women's Isis).
  • Provides a cradle for the foot to give maximum shock absorption (Anatomical Cradle®).
  • Has a removable sock-liner.
  • Both men and women styles are priced around $100.

Avia Euphoric II:

  • This is a quality neutral trainer, designed for the athlete with a high arch and a neutral gait.
  • Available in both men and women styles (Men's 2525mwxy and Women's 2525wwsy).
  • Has a new plate design that is more flexible and resilient and provides more stability.
  • The Anatomical Cradle® cradles the foot and provides maximum shock absorption.
  • Cushioning in the heel and forefoot (Dura-Ryd®) mimics the body's natural cushioning system.
  • Both men and women styles are prices around $100.

I haven't yet tried any of the newer models of running shoes made by Avia. (Hey, I'm female! What can I say! I'm fickle!) But, I was very pleased with the last pair of Avia shoes that I purchased. I definitely got my money's worth out of them...and, then some!
